Tonight sees a host of Kent sides turn aside from the stresses of league football and focus their attention on cup competitions.

Maidstone United and Histon are set to finally meet in the FA Trophy first round, their tie at Homelands having already been postponed six times.

Were the game not to go ahead tonight, the game would have been played at Histon’s Glass World Stadium tomorrow but the weather forecast finally appears favourable. Salisbury City await the winners in round two.

In the Kent Senior Cup second round, Ashford Town – bottom in Ryman One South – meet a VCD Athletic side chasing promotion from Ryman One North.

Also in the cup, two struggling sides clash at Hayes Lane with Cray Wanderers battling relegation from the Ryman Premier and Whitstable Town fighting to retain their Ryman One South status.

Four Kent League sides are also in action, with Fisher attempting to complete their London Senior Cup second round tie against Haringey Borough at the ninth time of asking. The game will be played at Champion Hill, the home of Dulwich Hamlet.

In the Kent League Premier Division Cup quarter-finals, three of the four first legs will be played tonight. Beckenham Town host Erith Town while Deal Town go to Sevenoaks Town, but the game of the night is at Reachfields Stadium. Although Hythe Town and Herne Bay are both set on winning the league title, there is no love lost between the clubs and both will be desperate to build a first-leg lead.
