A suspected case of foot-and-mouth is being investigated on the Romney Marsh it has been confirmed.
And results are expected late tonight or early tomorrow morning.
UK chief veterinary officer Debby Reynolds confirmed a control zone, centreing on Honeychild Manor farm in St Mary In the Marsh, has been established.
Cattle have been tested and officials were now awaiting results.
A similar incident in Dorking, Surrey, last week proved to be a false alarm and farmers across the county are keeping their fingers this will follow suit.
Speaking to the BBC, Dr Debby Reynolds, said: “The Dorking case was ruled out after laboratory testing and we’ve now got the same situation in Kent.
“Hopefully by the end of today of early tomorrow we’ll know the test results.”
