Ramsgate to be millionaires' playground

SEASIDE resort Ramsgate is set to be a millionaires’ playground with London high-flyers flocking to snap up property in the town.

A top people’s lifestyle magazine has named the town as the fifth best place to buy a home for top City executives with six-figure bonuses to spend.

Country Life put Ramsgate on the list of desirable residencies set for a property boom in 2006, only beaten by Salisbury and the up-market London postcodes of Kensington, Chelsea and Pimlico.

The magazine said the area now rivals Brighton or Whistable after restoration efforts on period homes and the planned high-speed rail link which will slash travel times to London.

Estate agent Christian Miles, senior partner at Miles and Barr, agreed. He said: “We saw a record level of sales in December, a time when the market’s normally quiet. And 47 per cent of buyers were from outside the region.”
