Dover court
An unemployed Dover man choked on a cheese sandwich and died during a drinking session with a friend.

Robert McGlen, 54, of Erith Street, had been drinking with Ellis Brown on October 24 last year at Mr Brown’s home in Templar Street.

An inquest at Dover Coroner’s Court yesterday (Wednesday) heard they had drunk lager before Mr Brown made sandwiches for them both.

They fell asleep and when Mr Brown woke he found his friend had died.

A consultant pathologist told the hearing that a post-mortem examination had established his cause of death as choking on food, severe alcohol intoxication and cirrhosis of the liver.

Coroner Rachel Redman recorded a verdict of death by misadventure.
