Maidstone United’s reward for knocking out Bromley in the FA Trophy on Saturday is a home tie against Blue Square Premier side Histon.
The Stones’ 1-0 win at Hayes Lane sent the Stones through to the first round proper for the first time since reforming in 1992. They face an even tougher test if they are to make the last 32 against a Histon side who play their league football two divisions above them.
Welling United also received a home tie in Monday's draw. Jamie Day’s side knocked out Tonbridge Angels 3-2 on Sunday and may fancy their chances of an upset against Eastbourne Borough, who are hovering just above the relegation zone in the Blue Square Premier.
The draw was not kind to struggling 2007 champions Ebbsfleet United, who travel to an in-form Stevenage Borough in a repeat of last season’s semi-final.
Dover Athletic may have the best chance of progressing out of the four Kent sides after they were paired with Havant & Waterlooville. Andy Hessenthaler’s side are well ahead of the Hampshire club in the Blue Square South table but lost 2-1 in the two sides’ league meeting in September and will have another crack at the Hawks next month.
Dover reached the first round with a thrilling 3-2 win against Dartford on Saturday.
Fixtures in full, ties to be played Saturday, December 12:
Havant & Waterlooville v Dover Athletic
Maidstone United v Histon
Stevenage Borough v Ebbsfleet United
Welling United v Eastbourne Borough
