Trevor Benjamin will play in a trial game for the Gills
FORMER Gillingham striker Trevor Benjamin is having a trial with the club in a reserve game at home to Southampton this afternoon.

The 29-year-old forward is a free agent but could net a deal with the Gills if he impresses manager Mark Stimson against the Saints today.

The forward, who has played for Leicester City, Crystal Palace and Norwich, played four games for the Gills during a loan spell in 2003.

Stimson said: “He is a free agent so the ball is in his court. He will play in a reserve game for us today and we will see what we can get from him.”

The Gills will also be giving a trial to winger Albert Jarrett who is also a free agent after having been released by Championship side Watford.

The 23-year-old left winger started his career at Arsenal, but after not being offered a contract he signed for Wimbledon.

After being released in 2004 the Sierra Leone player signed for Brighton, but was loaned out to Stevenage and Swindon Town.

After impressing in a trial at Watford he was given a one-year contract but was released last year.

Canada under-20 striker Marcus Haber has also been given a trial. He has thus far had unsuccessful trials at Leeds United, Rotherham and Hartlepool.
