Dubai sex on the beach businessman escapes jail

A Kent businessman arrested for having sex in public in Dubai has escaped a three-year prison sentence.

Last month Vince Acors, 34, from Bromley, was found guilty of breaking the strict Islamic laws of public indecency and having sex with 36-year-old Michelle Palmer, from Rutland.

Both were sentenced to three years in prison but will now be deported instead following a successful appeal.

The couple were arrested on Jumeirah Beach on July 5, just hours after meeting at a champagne brunch at a five-star hotel.

Dubai’s Court of First Instance heard this week how Acors and Palmer had been warned by a police officer about their “inappropriate” actions, but he later returned to find them having sex on a sun lounger.

The pair denied any wrongdoing and claimed they were just “kissing and hugging”, but the court did not believe them.

As well as their prison sentences, Acors and Palmer were also fined 1,000 dirhams – about £160 – each.
