Driver engulfed in flames as car crashed into house
A man was badly burned when his car swerved off a road into a house and burst into flames.

The VW Golf car careered off the A21 near Tunbridge Wells and went through a wooden fence before slamming into a brick wall of the home at 4am on Saturday.

Fire crews called to the scene used cutting equipment to get to the driver, who was trapped in the car as it was engulfed by flames.

The man was taken to the Kent and Sussex Hospital in Tunbridge Wells suffering from “extensive burns”.

His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

A Kent police spokesman said: “It is not believed any other vehicles were involved in the accident.”

The shocked homeowners were woken by the crash and called firefighters.

Their house will need repairs to brickwork on one side.
