Leon Camier has signed for the Aprilia World Superbike team for 2010, as predicted by Kent News last week.
The Ashford-born rider will join up with Italian superbike veteran Max Biaggi in a two rider line-up at Aprilia for next year’s World Superbike Championship.
Camier, who cruised to his maiden British title this year with a record breaking 19 wins from 26 races, has been in talks with the team for several weeks, but the Italian team confirmed today he will join them for the 2010 campaign.
Speaking ahead of the deal, the 23-year-old was excited by the move and believes riding for Aprilia will present him with a chance to lift the world title.
He said: “Although the team made their debut in the championship this year, they showed they can compete at the top end. I think a move there could give me a title shot if not in the first year, but the second year. I’ve got a lot to learn by moving up to the series, but I’m desperate to win races.”
