Detectives hunting a man in connection with an armed robbery in Folkestone have appealed for witnesses.
Police said a man, reportedly wielding a dark coloured handgun, threatened the security guard at the Sainsbury’s store in the Park Farm Industrial Estate, before stealing a cash box at 4.20pm on Thursday.
The man, who was believed to be in his 20s and wearing a grey hooded top and dark glasses, was chased by members of the public as he escaped in a silver Audi A4.
Officers later found the car abandoned in Belinda Court. It is being forensically examined.
The man could have skin or clothing dyed red or orange after the dye pack on the security cash box was activated, police said.
After the security measure exploded, the cash and box were discarded
