The play will follow the original story of the Waterbury family

A production of the classic book, The Railway Children, is heading to Canterbury this August.

As part of a major UK tour, the play is disembarking at the Marlowe Theatre.

The original book follows the children of the Waterbury family - Roberta, Peter and Phyllis - and the baffling disappearance of their father who departed with two strangers one evening.

Once forced to leave the contentment of their entitled London life, they must indulge in a simple existence in the countryside.

The performances in Canterbury will take place from August 15 – 19.

A spokesman for the production company said: “You can expect an uplifting theatrical experience jam-packed with beautiful costumes and innovative designs.

“Advanced technology such as video landscapes and digital projections portray a stunning visual environment to set the scene.”

Tickets for the show are on sale now priced from £22.25 to £33.25, available from marlowtheatre.com or the box office on 01227 787787.
