A host of well-known artists - among them Sir Peter Blake, Gavin Turk, Kristjana Williams and Vic Reeves - will appear in a star-studded car boot fair to mark the opening of the Folkestone Triennial next weekend.

The Vauxhall Art Car Boot Fair will take place in the town on Septebmer 2 and follows hot on the heels of a successful event in London in July.

Shoppers will be able to meet the artists who will be selling exclusive pieces from the boots of both new and vintage Vauxhall cars.

The fair will take place on the town’s Harbour Arm.

Karen Ashton, founder of the Art Car Boot Fair said: “As well as bringing an original line-up to Folkestone, we’ll also be drawing on all the talents of the local community.

“The town has a rich cultural history and we’re delighted to be back here on the opening weekend of the flagship Folkestone Triennial at a venue which has become a pivotal point for the town.”

The 2017 theme is The Original, so organisers say to “expect rare opportunities to snap up lots of genuine and exclusive bargains”.

In addition to the likes of Geraldine Swayne will be a host of locally based artists including Kate Knight, Matt Rowe, Kelvin Pawsey and collective The Chip Shop Group.

As well as lots of original art to buy, the fair will also feature a line-up of world class DJs, promenade performances, a fidget-spinner drawing workshop for kids, six different ways to have your self-portrait made plus special art car commissions.

Sir Peter Blake is best known for his work with the Beatles, including the cover of the Sgt Pepper album.

The Vauxhall Art Car Boot Fair takes place on Saturday September 2 at the Harbour Arm, Folkestone between noon to 4pm. Entry is £5.
