A Titanic exhibition which took place last summer has helped a Tunbridge Wells shopping centre scoop a prestigious award.
Royal Victoria Place was a Merit Winner in the ‘Events’ category for its ‘Titanic In Photographs’ display at a gathering of the leading shopping centre marketeers from across the UK.
This award aims to reward the best of the best in the events arena; events which break the mould and produce significant results with maximum impact at the same time as delivering return on investment.
The Revo Purple Apple Awards is the only annual awards programme which recognises and rewards effective shopping and town centre marketing within the UK retail sector and more than 140 entries were submitted across five categories this year.
The unique exhibition last year included 100 large-scale photographs of the world’s most famous ship brought to life with a world class display of 130 original artefacts.
‘Titanic in Photographs’ told the captivating story of Titanic; from conception to her tragic demise.
This was only its second opening in the UK and a first for Kent and Sussex, before it set sail to tour South America and the US.
During the four week event it attracted more than 148,000 visitors.
RVP marketing manager and exhibition organiser Marc Burchett said: “We are delighted and extremely proud to have once again been awarded a prestigious Purple Apple Award as this builds upon the success of our previous win in 2016 for our community art project ‘Victoria At 21’.
“The ‘Titanic In Photographs’ Exhibition enabled us to create a unique and engaging event which spanned the generations at the same time as providing an educational event for children during the school holidays.”
