Thanks Medway Council ! you are failing day after day , year after year and in the process you are constantly reminding every one of our Medway residents that we have the lowest council tax in Kent. Well we are not silly, what we save in council tax you take from us in every other area. Your car parking revenue is estimated at nearly £6 Million a year alone! During last Christmas period, Medway council opted to only allow 3 days of free parking as the revenue loss would be over £50,000. Just how much money are Medway council generating exactly ??

Now to top it all off, after throwing away a libdem idea about giving free local bus travel to under 18 year old’s they have now proudly announced their local budget and cuts. And guess what ? they have decided to hit an area that is already in the spotlight, sheltered housing , Nelson Court to be exact, Nelson Court Gillingham. The curse we know as Medway Council (Tories) have forecast an 118% rise in charges for Nelson Court.

IS THIS FAIR ? No its is not, it is disgusting that this Tory council have decided behind closed doors to charge our elderly residents appalling amounts of money to live in sheltered housing and at a 118% RISE !!

Dean Lacey puts the case clearly against the mean-minded sly tricks used by councils against residents. In Bexley tory councillors appear unfairly pro-closure of sheltered housing, and surprise surprise, this council also says FoI requests are too expensive and wants to stop residents using FoI. A man aged 73 and another aged 80 FoI request has revealed in July 2008 Bexley Council gave permission to London & Quadrant to close 60% of sheltered housing across the borough which can then be sold off after 2023. The "cabinet member" took the decision in the usual secret way because the "relevant councillor overview & scrutiny  committee did not call for the decision to be discussed in public.  Blair's sofa meetings were disastrous for democracy, how much worse for us are local cabinets, overview and scrutiny that do as they please, and hope they don't get found out till the dirty deeds have been done.  Housing does not have to be complicated unless it suits the local council and their chosen arms length commercialised partners.
